A quail walks in the dry summer grass in the forebay area of the San Luis Dam overnight camping area. We were surprised at the number of birds that can be seen just in this area alone. Los Banos itself is known for the great birdwatching that can be had in the wilderness areas that surround the city. Hunting is also popular both with the locals and with the hundreds if not thousands of hunters that come to the city every season to partake in Dove, Duck, Quail, Deer, and other hunting.
