Category Notes (Please check the specific park's page for more detailed information). If there is a letter or letters in the category box, then the following descriptions apply:

  • (BA) Baseball: This indicates there is a baseball diamond or baseball "cage" present.
  • (Bk) Basketball: You will find at least a basketball hoop present and possibly a basketball court.
  • (BQ) BBQ: There is a BBQ or BBQ's available.
  • (H) Horseshoe pits: There are pits and backstops for playing the game of throwing horseshoes.
  • (Be) Benches: Benches are available to sit on.
  • (K) Kite flying: This park has, in our opinion, enough unobstructed space for possible kite flying. Please consult with local authorities on the appropriateness of kite flying at each park. Some parks may have enough "room" for kite flying but are not recommended due to power lines, proximity to airplanes, etc. so these parks are NOT marked as kite parks even though they have the "space".
  • (L) Lawn area: You will find a grassy lawn area at this park.
  • (Ps) Party Structure: There is a permanent, roofed structure that is appropriate for parties, shade, etc.
  • (Pt) Picnic Tables: There is at least one picnic table (and possibly more) at this park
  • (PE) Play Equipment: This park has play equipment such as climbers, slides, swings and more. Please see the specific park descriptions for more details and/or photos.
  • (R or PP) Restrooms: PP indicates there is a porta-potty at this park. An R indicates there are permanent restrooms.
  • (Sh) Shade: There is some shade at this park. Take note though that at most parks there are many "young" trees. We expect these to mature and provide shade in the future. The availability of shade was assessed in July of 2006.
  • (SK) Skating: This indicates either a skate park or cement paths or others areas that MIGHT be suitable for skating, scooters, tricycles, etc. Check with local authorities to determine if skating or other wheeled activities are both legal and safe at each park.
  • (So) Soccer: There are soccer goals and a field large enough to play soccer on.
  • (T) Tennis: There are tennis courts available.
  • (V) Volleyball: There is a sand pit for volleyball (you will often have to provide your own net).
  • (W) Water Fountain: There is at least one water fountain present.

If we missed something, or conditions have changed at a park, please contact us!
