October 2 - The Community Prayer Group is a non denominational group of people of faith from many different congregations who meet on the first Thursday of each month at 1PM. October 4 - Memorial Hospital Los Banos Foundation Gala: Royal Orchid: An Evening in the Orient October 4, 2008 6pm to midnight. I have attached a copy of the postcard front and back. The Memorial Hospital Los Banos Foundation is a non-profit service organization that raises funds for hospital equipment and building projects that might not be possible without additional help and support from individuals and businesses. We would greatly appreciate your partnership as a benefactor, sponsor, donor or general participant at this year's Gala. Our annual Gala, 'The Royal Orchid: An Evening in the Orient, is scheduled for October 4, 2008 at the Los Banos Fairgrounds. This Gala features an exciting live auction as well as a competitive silent auction. The Foundation's focus this year will be on raising funds to enhance and renovate the Emergency Department, which currently serves over 23,000 patients per year. October 4th - Fall Cleanup 7AM to 3PM at the Ranchwood Park Parking Lot and the fairgrounds parking lot.

October 6 - Homeowners & Renters Assistance for Seniors program. It's time to file for this tax assistance. There will be a volunteer at the Miller & Lux building from 9 am to 1 pm for walk-ins and by appointment only from 1 pm to 4pm. For information on who qualifies come in or call 827-7046.

October 7 - Mayoral and City Council Candidate Forum at the Los Banos City Hall in the Los Banos City Council Chambers presented by Starlight Video and the Los Banos Enterprise. Starts at 7 PM - Will be broadcast live on TV the public is invited to attend

October 11 - Luna Nova Instrumental Quartet Concert - Ted Falasco Arts Center - Details Call 1-209-826-6257 The Los Banos Arts Council 2008-2009 Concert series Presents Luna Nova - bringing a different type of string quartet to the Falasco Arts Center. "This could be Chamber music for people who hate chamber music". Concert begins at 7:30 PM.

October 11 - South Bay Soaring Society Aero Tow - SBSS (South Bay Soaring Society) will be holding an Aero Tow at the Los Banos Reservoir Contact George Hollidge g.hollidge@comcast.net for more information.

October 13 - Columbus Day

October 13 - Los Banos Community 4-H meets at the Henry Miller Elementary School cafeteria at 7 PM. Call Debbie at 387-9707.

October 14 - St. John's Annual Swedish Smorgasbord will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the church (250 W. Adams). The cost for the all you can eat dinner is $17.50 for adults and $10 for children ages 4-10. Children under 4 eat free. The menu will include Swedish pancakes, Swedish roast pork meatballs, potatoes in white gravy, cole slaw, salmon mousse, rice pudding, cabbage rolls, spiced fruit and apples, deviled eggs and more!

October 14 - Parent Talk a support group for parents of children with every kind of disability meets every second Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 250 West Adams from 1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. Child Care is provided. October 24-26 - California Open Scrabble Tournament Games start on Friday afternoon and continue through Sunday morning. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st through 6th place finishers Sunday afternoon. This event will be held at the Ramada in Santa Nella. There is a senior and disabled persons lunch from noon to 1 p.m. at McArthur Apartments, 1130 F St.
Food costs $2 and you don't have to worry about the cleanup!

Cherish's exercise program for seniors meets from 10-11 a.m. at the McArthur Apartments on F Street.

Senior's Arts & Crafts and Quilting Classes at 830 6th street from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm. (excluding holidays). Gloris is the instructor. Everyone is welcome. Bring your own project or work on a class project.

Park Day! Every Wednesday
- 10 AM - Mothers and children of all ages meet in the park to chat and let their kids play. Children of all ages are welcome from infant to seventeen. Click here for more information.

Free breastfeeding support group. 1 PM at the education center in Memorial Hospital. Meet with other moms and measure your baby's progress.

Safesitter Babysitting class at Memorial Hospital. A child must be at least 11 years old to attend and the class costs $20. The class is from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information call 826,0591, ext. 270.

Four-H meeting the first Wednesday of every month at the Parish Hall next door to St. Joseph's Catholic Church on center Street

Senior's Open Game Day - from 8 to 4 pm, the senior's center come on in and play games. Various games are available, so bring your freinds! Cofee is available.

And working with other Veterans organizations for the betterment of the Veterans with special needs.

Fitness for active seniors class - This free class taught by John Spevak will be held at the Los Banos Merced College Campus. Classes start Sept. 3 and will occur every Wednesday and Friday morning from 8:30 -10 a.m. Classes will be held in room B-136.

Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups meet at 7 p.m. in Suite D of the Pinnacle Health Care building, 285 Mercey Springs Road. Call Mary at 826-6880 for more information.

Alcoholics Anonymous Serenity at Noon Group meets Mondays through Fridays in the recreation hall at 903 Pacheco Blvd. from noon to 1 p.m.

Narcotics Anonymous meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Greyhound Bus Depot, 820 G St.
