Annual Eagle Field Dinner Dance (Near Dos Palos)
The Central California
Historical Military Museums annual dinner dance has grown from it's first with
50 dinners served and six aircraft to as many as 110 aircraft and almost 1000
dinners served. We have 30 to 40 ex-cadets and instructors attending and the number
is still growing.
This is a two day event with warbird arrivals occurring
all afternoon on Saturday. The steak dinner is served in the 30,000 square foot
main hanger starting at 6:00 pm with entertainment supplied by a 40's style big
band. Many attending dress in period attire and the dancing goes well into the
night.
Sunday kicks off with an excellent brunch served by the California
Women for Agriculture. This is your chance to get up close and personal with the
warbirds and the pilots and crew who fly them. This is also the day that you can
give your kids the opportunity to see the inside of many of the aircraft that
made history (With owner and/or pilot permission). You can also volunteer for
crew member training if you would like to be part of the crew.

June 26 - JUNE 26 - SECOND AMMENDMENT DAY June 26th
is Second Ammendment Day - the day that commemorates the United States Supreme
Court's historic ruling in a case called "DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ET AL. v. HELLER"
which struck down a handgun ban and established once and for all the precedent
and rule of law that protects individual freedom of the right to keep and bear
arms for citizens of the United States.
The supreme court had never before
conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since the ammendment's original
ratification in 1791. The 2nd amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being
necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and
bear arms, shall not be infringed."
Many people and politicians had come
to the wrong conclusion that because of the first clause in the ammendment that
it was meant only to cover a 'regulated militia'. This is not so nor is that interpretation
even gramatically correct.
On June 26, 2008 the United States Supreme Court
Ruled against those who would take liberty from Americans saying: "The
Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected
with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes,
such as self-defense within the home." thus overturning a handgun ban
in Washington DC.
The Supreme Court Stated "The Amendment’s prefatory
clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second
part, the operativeclause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate
that itconnotes an individual right to keep and bear arms."
This historic
decission is celebrated by Americans who believe in personal liberty and ALL of
the rights granted to us in the constitution of the United States Of America particularly
the first 10 Ammendments known as the Bill of Rights.
You may read historic
decission in full here: http://www.supremecourtus.gov/opinions/07pdf/07-290.pdf
