The Bible In One Year Bible Reading For Day Number - 238 Psalms
-- 139{1} O LORD,
thou hast searched me, and known me. {2} Thou knowest my downsitting
and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. {3} Thou
compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
{4} For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest
it altogether. {5} Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine
hand upon me. {6} Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high,
I cannot attain unto it. {7} Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or
whither shall I flee from thy presence? {8} If I ascend up into heaven,
thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. {9}
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
{10} Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
{11} If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall
be light about me. {12} Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but
the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
{13} For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's
womb. {14} I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. {15}
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought
in the lowest parts of the earth. {16} Thine eyes did see my substance,
yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance
were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. {17} How precious
also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! {18}
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I
am still with thee. {19} Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart
from me therefore, ye bloody men. {20} For they speak against thee
wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. {21} Do not I hate
them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against
thee? {22} I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
{23} Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
{24} And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalms -- 140{1}
Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; {2}
Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together
for war. {3} They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders'
poison is under their lips. Selah. {4} Keep me, O LORD, from the hands
of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow
my goings. {5} The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have
spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah. {6}
I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
{7} O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my
head in the day of battle. {8} Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the
wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
{9} As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of
their own lips cover them. {10} Let burning coals fall upon them: let
them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. {11}
Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent
man to overthrow him. {12} I know that the LORD will maintain the cause
of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. {13} Surely the righteous
shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
Psalms -- 141{1}
LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry
unto thee. {2} Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. {3} Set a watch,
O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. {4} Incline not
my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity:
and let me not eat of their dainties. {5} Let the righteous smite me;
it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil,
which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
{6} When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my
words; for they are sweet. {7} Our bones are scattered at the grave's
mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. {8} But
mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul
destitute. {9} Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me,
and the gins of the workers of iniquity. {10} Let the wicked fall into
their own nets, whilst that I withal escape. First
Corinthians -- 9{1}
Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are
not ye my work in the Lord? {2} If I be not an apostle unto others,
yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
{3} Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, {4} Have
we not power to eat and to drink? {5} Have we not power to lead about
a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord,
and Cephas? {6} Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear
working? {7} Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth
a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth
not of the milk of the flock? {8} Say I these things as a man? or saith
not the law the same also? {9} For it is written in the law of Moses,
Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God
take care for oxen? {10} Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For
our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope;
and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. {11}
If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap
your carnal things? {12} If others be partakers of this power over
you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all
things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. {13} Do ye not
know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple?
and they which wait at the alter are partakers with the alter? {14}
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of
the gospel. {15} But I have used none of these things: neither have
I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better
for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. {16}
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid
upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! {17} For
if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation
of the gospel is committed unto me. {18} What is my reward then? Verily
that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge,
that I abuse not my power in the gospel. {19} For though I be free
from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
{20} And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to
them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are
under the law; {21} To them that are without law, as without law, (being
not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that
are without law. {22} To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain
the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
{23} And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof
with you. {24} Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but
one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. {25} And every
man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to
obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. {26} I therefore
so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: {27}
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means,
when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
